Poverty, little education and lack of work can have adverse effects on the health of the affected persons. These disadvantageous factors tend to be very common among persons in Germany receiving Arbeitslosengeld II (jobseeker‘s allowance). With the establishment of the principle of requirements and support in SGB II (basic provision for persons seeking work), the assessment of the factor “ill-health“ as an additional barrier to finding a position acquires particular significance. The intensification of efforts to find a person a job as stipulated by the requirements and support principle puts particular demands on the assessor and the assessment.
