The application of the new regulations for noise control has presented the music and entertainment sector with enormous problems. Increasingly good results are being obtained with a variety of measures for limiting noise exposure, even including the use of personal hearing protectors. This can also be acceptable for musicians in situations where tenable technical or organizational measures for noise reduction cannot keep the noise level below the critical limit. The provision of good professional and strategic advice for music businesses and of quality occupational medical check-ups for the employees are decisive for the maintenance of healthy hearing, an objective of particular importance for musicians.
