Influenza has a multitude of clinical presentations, possible hosts and transmission scenarios. Efficient prevention is possible if the person at risk knows which danger lures where and how to avoid it. This requires a thorough analysis of the dangers which may be encountered and good communication. Reducing the topic to just the — undoubtedly sensible — annual influenza vaccination campaign is not enough, especially as it does not create any understanding of the potential dangers.
