The implementation of the EU directives 98/24/EG (chemical agents a t work), 9 9/38/EG (modification o f the directive concerning exposure to c arcinogens 9 0/394/EG), I LO Convention 170 (safety in the use of chemicals at work) and the ILO Convention 184 (safety and health in agriculture) in the new Regulations for dangerous substances results in a number of changes for physicians working in occupational medicine. The present paper summarizes those changes which have significant effects on occupational medical check-ups and discusses their consequences for occupational medicine.
