Both for travellers or patients, and for doctors, exclusion criteria exist when it comes to travel health and cancellation insurance. Doctors feel themselves “on thin ice” when they are asked for assistance abroad or on board ships or planes. The present work gives an overview of the most important questions and problems, although it must be emphasised that from the legal point of view, every case must be judged on its individual merits. For the sake of completeness, it must also be emphasised that the considerations must be viewed against the background of German jurisdiction, and that different considerations may apply abroad.
