A complex network system for effective skin protection has been developed in a large manufacturing company in the metal-working industry. With the amendment to the regulations concerning the handling of hazardous materials and to the legal status of occupational medical check-ups (skin), prophylaxis has become even more significant. The role of the elements of the network is described and the most important steps in employee training explained. The objective is to ensure safe working conditions despite the presence of hazardous materials. Emphasis is put on the cooperation with the federation of the institutions for accident insurance and prevention and on the importance of quality control of the success rate. The question of whether this concept could be used in smaller companies is discussed.
